Back Care Classes (Back 2 Basics) - 5 week blocks
Fun interactive classes aimed to relieve back tension and stress via stretching, core strength and massage!

-Wednesdays from 4 Feb to 4 March @ 5.30pm-6.30pm
-Wednesdays from 25 March to 22 April @ 5.30pm-6.30pm
-Wednesdays from 7 Oct to 4 Nov @ 5.30pm-6.30pm

Venue: YMCA Fitness Centre, City, Pitt Street

What to wear: Comfortable and warm clothing as exercises are performed either on the floor or standing on a mat, with a rope and either individually or in pairs. We finish the class with gentle massage work and relaxation breathing.

Level of class: From beginners to advanced will benefit from the course, as we will start from the basic back strength exercises for the upper and lower back. A great course for those with back pain or those just wanting to maintain movement in the spine.

Numbers in a class: A maximum of 10 ensures we provide a professional and personalized service.


Stretch & Flex Classes - 5 week blocks
Fun interactive classes aimed to improve flexibility and stress via partner stretching, soft tissue release and massage!

Times & dates:
-Fridays from 9 May to 5 June @ 4.30pm-5.30pm
-Fridays from 7 August to 4 September @ 4.30pm-5.30pm
-Fridays from 11 September to 9 October @ 4.30pm-5.30pm

Sports Strapping – Upper Body -3 week block
Learn the basic strapping techniques for the upper body. A practical course designed to assist the weekend warrior, sports coach or trainer to understand the principles of sports strapping for injury management.

Times & dates:
-Saturdays from 4 April to 18 April @ 11am-1pm
-Saturdays from 1 Aug to 15 Aug @ 11am-1pm

Sports Strapping – Lower Body – 3 week block
Learn the basic strapping techniques for the lower body. A practical course designed to assist the weekend warrior, sports coach or trainer to understand the principles of sports strapping for injury management.

Times & dates:
-Saturdays from 2 May to 16 May @ 11am-1pm
-Saturdays from 5 Sept to 19 Sept @ 11am-1pm

Investment for both courses: $120 for each 3 week block

What to wear: Comfortable and warm clothing as you will be expected to change into sports bra and shorts for trapping practical. Shaving of legs may assist when stripping off of sports tape.

Level of class: From beginners to advanced sports coaches, trainers or those interested in injury management will benefit from the course, as we will practice the basic strapping techniques for the most common sports injuries. A basic knowledge of anatomy is recommended.

Numbers in a class: A maximum of 10 ensures we provide a professional and personalized service.


Sports Massage - 8 week blocks
This practical course offers the opportunity to learn massage techniques to enhance the relaxation of muscles and improve athlete’s recovery after exercise. Learn how the latest soft tissue release as well as traditional massage skills can be an invaluable tool in athletic performance.

-Wednesdays from 5 August to 22 September @ 6.30pm-9pm

What to wear: Comfortable and warm clothing as you will be expected to change into sports bra and shorts for massage practical. Massage tables & oils provided at AUT, all you have to bring is your towels!

Level of class: From beginners to advanced sports coaches, trainers or those interested in learning the basic techniques of massage for their teams or individual interest will benefit from the course. A basic knowledge of anatomy is recommended.

Numbers in a class: A maximum of 20 ensures we provide a professional and personalized service.
